Do You Need a New Plumber?

A quiet change has been made in the way many plumbing companies in San Antonio do business; are you aware of the changes?

Many plumbing companies pay their plumbers on a commission basis. Under this arrangement, the more they sell to you, the customer, the more they make. Sending a plumber home to his family with a $25 commission check is a great incentive for him to upsell customers, or sell them something they may not need or want.

Texas Plumbing Diagnostics pays an hourly wage to our technicians. They have no motivation to sell our customers anything they do not want or need. They will be honest with the customer concerning his or her plumbing needs.

Many plumbing companies now require the plumbing technician to use his or her own truck and gas when traveling to a jobsite. You, as a customer, would probably not be aware of this, though, as they are placing signage on the technician’s personal truck. “Free” estimates cost the plumber, rather than the company. How does this affect you? When a plumber has to make a trip at his own expense, he has a greater incentive to “find” a problem that must be repaired.

Texas Plumbing Diagnostics provides a truck for each of our plumbing technicians at company expense.

At Texas Plumbing Diagnostics, we attempt to treat our customers right, and treat our employees right. We trust that our customers will place enough value on our honesty, integrity and customer service, that we can also make a living providing plumbing services. We believe that, “When everybody is blessed, it’s a God Thing!”

Do You Need a New Plumber? At Texas Plumbing Diagnostics, we’re ready to serve you!

Do you own a vacation home? Or, are you away from your home for extended periods of time? Or, have you recently purchased a new home that was previously vacant for more than a month? Then, you may need to “freshen your water.”

You may be one of the many people who own a vacation or rental home in San Antonio; or, you may be the owner of a new home.
Infrequent visits or an empty home can present problems with a tank water heater. When your water heater is not in constant use, anaerobic bacteria can build up inside the unit. Often, when the homeowner returns, he or she will notice a distinct sulfur-type odor. When you notice this odor, it’s time to “freshen your water!”

There’s no need to be overly concerned, however. A simple, inexpensive product can be used to remove any bacteria: hydrogen peroxide. Because anaerobic bacteria flourish where there is no oxygen, they can be killed off by charging the system with a harsh oxygenated environment using hydrogen peroxide. This oxygenation must flow throughout the entire plumbing system, including the pipes and fixtures, to eliminate bacterial contamination there as well.

The homeowner may choose to perform this task himself. Follow these steps: 1) Unplug the heater or shut off the gas burner 2) Shut off the cold water valve to your water heater; 3) Open the T&P valve, or open a hot faucet nearby to relieve pressure; 4) Drain a little water from the tank; 5) Add one to two pints of hydrogen peroxide, and allow the treated water to sit for a few hours; 6) Close the T&P valve and turn the cold water valve on the heater back on; 7) Run all the hot water taps for about five minutes, and then turn them off. This should drain enough water from your tank to clear the system. Be sure to plug your electric heater in again; if your heater is gas, turn the gas back on and re-light the pilot light.

If your home is vacant for another extended period, simply perform the flush over again when you return. Or, if you prefer to leave plumbing work to the experts, call for your plumbing technician at Texas Plumbing Diagnostics, phone number: 210-698-9790, and we’ll perform this valuable service for you. You can “freshen your water” by removing bacteria from your system.
