Water Heater Repairs in San Antonio

We repair & replace water heaters in San Antonio
Storage System, or Tank Water Heater, is the most popular type of water heater. In these units, water is kept at the desired temperature at all times. A thermostat senses the temperature of the water inside the tank, and turns the fuel (electric or gas, usually) on and off as required to maintain a set temperature. The temperature is adjustable to suit the consumer.
These units have a safety feature called a Temperature and Pressure (T&P) Relief Valve. This valve opens to relieve pressure in the tank in case of a malfunction.
Most storage units have what is called a sacrificial anode. This is a metal rod that is suspended in the tank. Minerals in the water react with this metal, and cause the rod to be eaten away, rather than eating away at the walls of the tank. Some heater models also feature a glass-lined tank designed to reduce corrosion. During manufacture, a coating is applied to the inside of the steel tank and heated to form a protective porcelain glass-like layer.
Manufacturers recommend flushing heaters yearly. Water heaters frequently feature a plastic drain valve to be used for performing this flush. TPD technicians recommend replacing this plastic valve with a brass ball valve. The ball valve is sturdier, with a larger opening. This facilitates a more thorough flushing of minerals, especially in cases where the minerals have clumped together.
Tankless Water Heaters – These units are highly valued for water and energy conservation, but their price tag is approximately three to four times the cost of a tank water heater.
